In the ACT

In the ACT, parents initially register their child for provisional registration (which is automatically approved) for a period of 6 months. This allows time to explore home education options and methods. To continue home educating beyond 6 months, parents apply for full registration at which time they must provide information on how they provide a high quality education for their child.

The provisional registration requirements and procedures are detailed in a pamphlet 'Home Education in the ACT', produced by and available from the ACT Department of Education and Training. Combining home education with part-time school is also an option in the ACT.
